Whole-Brain Creativity
I love this short TEDEd video debunking the left-brain/right-brain myth. All of us, everyday, use both sides of our brains. People who express artistic talents don't have weak left brains. People who are good with numbers don't have weak right brains. As brain science has advanced, we've learned that the idea of people being left-brained or right-brained is unsupported by scientific evidence.
When I was in high school, an English teacher warned me I might find my first research paper challenging because I was a creative type person. She was wrong. I loved the research and the writing and excelled at both. In fact, when I got my SAT results a year later, analytical skills was my top scoring section on the test. To this day, whether people see me as creative or analytical depends on the environment they've known me in. Did they see me at a desk crunching numbers in complex Excel spreadsheets? Did they meet me at an event where I was selling my artwork or sit in one of my creative classes?

I think we do ourselves a disservice if we stuff ourselves into a left-brain or right-brain box. Our brain works magic everyday that we can tap into if we choose. Watch the video and let me know how you use whole-brain creativity in your life.
